The value isn't in the specific plot mechanics; it's in having exercised the underlying questions before the technology existed to force the issue.

The way through isn't rejecting science fiction's influence entirely — it's noticing when a reaction to real AI is actually a reaction to a decades-old story trope, and evaluating the real system on its own terms instead.
